Founded in 1892, the Denver Rescue Mission is the oldest full-service Christian charity
serving the poor and needy in the Rocky Mountain region. The Mission, a Colorado
nonprofit organization, provides food, clothing, shelter, transitional housing,
educational, and rehabilitation programs free of charge.
The Lawrence Street Shelter is the Mission's most recognizable location. Many refer to it
simply as "Jesus Saves" because of the neon "Jesus Saves" sign that adorns the corner of
the building. This facility shelters up to 200 men nightly, 300 in inclement weather.
Emergency care is provided through meals, shelter, food boxes, and clothing distribution.
The stress of living in poverty or struggling on the streets often leads people to abusing drugs and alcohol as an escape—creating a cycle of brokenness. Our New Life Program equips men to overcome these challenges and develop a renewed sense of hope
Our transitional programs help people who are homeless despite having a job and steady income transition into a sustainable, self-sufficient life. These programs also assist refugees who are transitioning to life here in Denver.
