ECFA is an accreditation agency dedicated to helping Christ-centered ministries earn the public’s trust through adherence to our Seven Standards of Responsible Stewardship™. Founded in 1979, ECFA provides accreditation to leading churches and ministries that faithfully and voluntarily comply with established financial accountability, fundraising, and board governance standards. Members include Christian ministries, denominations, churches, educational institutions, and other tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organizations.
ECFA’s Form 990 is prepared by an independent CPA firm and reviewed by the ECFA Board of Directors. Although the IRS has recognized ECFA’s legal status as an association of churches exempt from the annual Form 990 filing requirements, we choose to voluntarily prepare the form and make it widely available on our website, consistent with our commitment to appropriate transparency.
