ECFA's interest in church governance stems from its certification of dozens of the largest and most influential churches in America. Churches are one of the fastest growing segments among over 2,100 ECFA members.

The digital survey was fielded in January 2016. With 516 American churches represented (ECFA members and non-members included), this is the largest governance survey of its kind ever undertaken.
