FARMS International

Ministry Description
FARMS International is a Christian ministry that serves the church worldwide by equipping families in poverty with the means for self-support. Working through local volunteer committees and the church, FARMS provides loans, technical support for income generating projects, and spiritual training for families. Loans are repaid to a revolving fund and the recipients agree to tithe out of their profits to their local church. The result? Families find a Biblical path out of poverty and their churches become self-reliant!

In places of poverty, most people are self-employed, piecing together income from a number of different sources. Yet many have never been taught the basic business principles we often take for granted — principles that can make a dramatic difference in a family's livelihood. We would like to expand our staff support capacity as we seek to work at the intersection of Livelihood Development, Local Ownership, and the Global Church. Additional staff capacity allows us to follow up with more partnership requests, make in-person visits, carry out coaching, conduct field programing, facilitate agricultural and entrepreneurial training, and improve monitoring and evaluation.

As loans are repaid the funds remain with a local committee who then revolves it as another loan to the next qualified participant. These loans are for income generating pur
