Family Life Services

Ministry Description
Family Life Services helps single moms and their children build new futures through faith-based community. We accomplish this through a resident program and a community outreach program.

The Family Life campus is an intimate community of single moms and their children—a safe place carved out for courageous women who are building new life patterns and leaving old ones behind. We help moms pivot toward stability and healthy choices, breaking generational patterns. FLS women are working moms who are also working hard at transformation. It’s gritty and challenging—and full of promise.
We serve families in two programs, one residential and one non-residential.

Our first program, Families Building Futures, is a two-year live-in transitional housing program that is a safe place for courageous moms who are taking the first steps of rebuilding their families in healthy new ways.

Our second program, Women of Courage, continues the work of Families Building Futures while also serving single moms and their children throughout El Paso County. Women of Courage partners with single moms to create a transformational and supportive community where families grow spiritually, develop skills, and achieve goals. The Women of Courage community has served women for over 20 years and typically includes 20-25 families at any one time. Many of the participants are former campus residents, providing a platform to continue the work began begun in Families Building Futures. Moms in Women of Courage are matched with specially trained mentors who meet moms where they are and then walk beside families to help them reach their goals. Women of Courage also includes a program that equips single moms to explore opening their own business as their path out of poverty and towards stability.

Through our programs, Family Life Services seeks to:

• Provide single moms and their children a safe, secure, and nurturing environment where they can establish financial stability, pursue their goals, break down barriers to progress, and seek emotional healing
• Connect moms with community services
• Equip moms with the skills and social networks they need to thrive
• Offer children a safe, stable, predictable, and loving environment in which to grow
• Nurture spiritual growth in our community: among the moms and their children, volunteers, and staff

For Family Life Services, success looks like:
• Moms setting goals, charting their path to overcome barriers that have held them back, and then reaching their goals with a community to cheer them on
• Moms fully stepping into their role as the head of their household, by owning their decisions, growing in parenting skills, feeling equipped to manage the problems that arise in their lives and the lives of their kids, and working toward the stability their children need
• Moms working in stable jobs that match their skills, abilities, and gifts
• Families moving into and maintaining affordable, safe, and stable h
