Earth Mission seeks to provide technological and medical solutions that are efficient, culturally sensitive, practical and permanent.
Earth Mission Asia, as a project of Earth Mission, Inc, is focused on developing a sustainable training program for indigenous healthcare teams to serve the marginalized areas of the Karen people concentrated along the Thai-Myanmar border. Many Karen in the remote areas struggle to scratch out a living as farmers. Little is left over for education or healthcare. Basic health indexes in these areas are considerably worse than the rest of the country. Much of that burden is due to treatable diseases. The number of trained healthcare personnel in the area, however, is significantly below WHO recommended numbers. Accordingly, EMA operates a 5 year training program for Physician Assistant students from those remote areas. The curriculum is designed for conditions and diseases seen in those areas. EMA also runs an engineering technician training program that is geared to support clinics in remote settings.
