Servants Center

Ministry Description
Servants Center is a nonprofit, non-denominational, faith-based organization providing high quality, relationship-based street outreach and ongoing support services to people facing homelessness and mental health challenges in the Grand Rapids, Michigan, area. We organized in 1993 to provide direct relationship-based ministry to people in need. Our goal is to be ambassadors for Jesus Christ as we carry out the Biblical imperative to help the poor. For over 30 years, we’ve helped thousands of highly vulnerable people go from living on the streets to living in stable, healthy situations for good.

Currently, Servants Center is a guardian and/or a representative payee for over 275 people in the Grand Rapids area. We create trusted relationships with our clients and provide ongoing direct services to cover the specific needs of each individual’s circumstances. We also provide training seminars and consulting services to help West Michigan churches develop effective poverty ministries in their own communities - urban, suburban, or rural.

The Work of Servants Center is Unduplicated. The unique mission of Servants Center is to provide not just temporary relief, but to offer a pathway out of homelessness coupled with addressing mental health challenges.
Servants Center is where compassion meets action, transforming lives from the streets into stability.
Our goal is to restore dignity and hope to individuals through a holistic approach that goes beyond basic needs, ensuring long-term stability.

We operate under a compassionate mission that is deeply rooted in Christian values, focusing on a demographic that is often overlooked and underserved: those experiencing homelessness and mental illness.

Our services are designed to address immediate needs while laying a foundation for long-term stability. By securing housing, ensuring access to medical and psychiatric care, and providing consistent support, our vision is to construct an unwavering continuum of care that honors the self-worth and unique needs of each person we serve.

In everything we do, we strive to meet our clients where they are, recognizing the courage it takes to change one's life. We believe that through faith, compassion, and action, we can not only support our clients in reclaiming their lives, but also contribute to the health and vibrancy of our community.

From street to stability,
our goal is to help everyone
not just get off the streets,
but stay off the streets.
