Sozo Children

Ministry Description
OUR STORY

Sozo Children was founded in 2010 to rescue a group of at-risk children from unimaginable circumstances in Uganda. What began with 17 children has grown into a ministry caring for more than135 boys and girls. Our Christ-centered continuum of care includes proper nutrition, healthcare, quality education, spiritual development, and life skills—all aimed at raising strong leaders for Christ who will positively impact the next generation of Ugandan society.

Our holistic approach has earned Sozo Children a strong partnership with Uganda’s Ministry of Gender, which oversees child welfare in the country. Recognizing our commitment and effectiveness, the Ministry views Sozo Children as a model for children's homes across Uganda.

WHAT WE DO

We believe every child deserves the opportunity to thrive and lead for Jesus. In Uganda, over 8.1 million vulnerable children live without basic needs and often feel forgotten. For 15 years, we've seen how individualized, loving care gives children real hope for the future.

Today, Sozo provides for over 135 children—empowering, discipling, and nurturing them through a gospel-centered model. We RESCUE children from extreme poverty, abuse, abandonment, and trafficking. We RESTORE families through long-term, integrative care. And we REPLICATE by equipping children and families to transform their communities for God's glory.

So far 44 of our children have graduated from university or trade school and are now making an impact in their communities. Our outreach extends beyond the walls of Sozo Village, building meaningful relationships with local Ugandans through four key initiatives: discipleship, entrepreneurship, skill development, and health.

Led by Ugandans, our community savings program helps families cover basic needs like food, housing, and school fees. Beyond entrepreneurship training, we walk alongside families—empowering them for lasting success.

GiverConnect™
Sozo Children’s sponsorship program exists to connect individuals with vulnerable children to experience the love of Christ and fulfill their potential. Sponsorships provide for basic needs of medical care and education as well as personal development, essential life skills and spiritual growth. The desired outcome is for all Sozo Children to become thriving leaders for Christ in Uganda.
The Village Project, a capital project to develop the campus of Sozo Children, consists of three phases to provide 30 family-based homes for 300 children, a worship facility, a primary and secondary school, a medical clinic, and water wells for the community. The Village Project allows supporters to take an active role in the work of God to fulfill the vision of Sozo Children to see All Children Thriving, All Communities Transformed.
