Word and Deed seeks to improve the spiritual and physical lives of those who have been deprived of the basic necessities of life by virtue of disease, poverty and/or natural disasters. This is accomplished through partnerships with indigenous churches and Christian organizations which enable us to support and administer development projects, child sponsorships, and disaster relief in conjunction with Biblically-based evangelistic efforts. We encourage Christians in North America to a greater awareness of and concern for the poor and engage them in the work of the Great Commission through education, fundraising, and work teams. Word & Deed's three main areas of emphasis are a focus on the gospel in all projects, partnering and developing indigenous leadership, and encouraging self-sufficiency.

As the extent of the devastation and ever increasing death toll caused by the 7.8 magnitude earthquake and large aftershocks that hit Turkey yesterday has come increasingly clear, Word & Deed has connected with multiple partners who have a presence in Turkey. As a result of discussions with these partners, we will be collecting donations to help with immediate needs of the victims of this disaster. May the Lord have mercy on the people of Turkey and use this trial to bring many to Himself. Pleas
