St Luke's Healthcare Foundation is the sole owner of a hospital in Ethiopia called Soddo Christian Hospital. Our Mission is to provide compassionate care and comfort for the sick in the name of Jesus Christ and for the sake of God's glory in the spirit of servanthood and sacrifice. Our vision was to establish a private not-for-profit hospital in Wolaitta, Ethiopia, as a medical training center that will minister to the needs of the people in Ethiopia. It is a fee-for-service private hospital. It is hoped that it will be self supporting. The SODDO CHRISTIAN HOSPITAL of Wolaitta Soddo is established as a private limited company medical center institution under the ownership of the St. Luke's Health Care Foundation of Wheaton, Illinois, for helping the people of Ethiopia since January, 2005. The hospital is located in Soddo, the hub of the Wolaitta region of nearly 3 million people.

A thin, pregnant woman with HIV recently traveled 75 KM to Soddo Christian Hospital seeking help with the delivery of her twins. She arrived with no money. We were able to help her and the babies because of the Benevolence Fund that is supported by generous donors. Almost one third of our patients receive discounted treatment via this fund. 96% of your gift will be used for patients at Soddo Christian Hospital in Ethiopia.
We desperately need to upgrade our operating rooms. We have wonderful plans for an eight suite center.
Last year we served over 23,000 patients and over 2500,000 visitor/patients since 2005. Regionally there is a population over 2,500,000. Community Health Evangelism is also a growing opportunity. We have plans for a $900,000 Outpatient Building.
