Variance Power

A variance power is the authority granted to a ministry by a court with respect to the use of a giver-restricted gift. The term may also be used regarding the authority a ministry believes it has over a giver-restricted gift because of disclaimers or caveats communicated to givers relating to the use of gifts when under-funding or over-funding of a project or campaign occurs.
