Ministry Description
Floresta (www.floresta.org), is a non-denominational Christian charity that helps rural farmers break the cycle of poverty by stopping the deforestation that destroys the land, robbing farmers of their livelihood. Floresta addresses the root causes of a region's severe poverty with its programs of community development, innovative agriculture, reforestation, and micro credit. To date, they have planted more than 3.5 million trees and helped poor farmers in 120 villages throughout Mexico, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Tanzania and Thailand. In addition to planting trees, the group has revitalized thousands of small farms, and made over 3,500 small business loans, bringing empowerment and hope to thousands.
