RISE embraced a dream to impact Angola through education one child, one classroom, one school at a time. After 27 years of civil war, suffering and devastation, there are generations, particularly in the rural areas of Angola, that have never had the chance to go to school, to learn to read and write. Our mission is to build primary schools in rural Angola to educate children, empower communities and contribute to the rebuilding of the country. The first school was built in 2003, and now there are 159 RISE-built schools impacting over 103,000 students, those that would not have had the chance for years to come! It is estimated that there are 4 million Angola children still not in school -- our work is not done.

Every child has a right to primary education, specifically free primary school. It is a fundamental right to which governments, including Angola, committed themselves under the 1989 Convention of the Civil Rights of the Child. It is estimated that between 513,000 and several million children in Angola have no access to basic primary education due to the devastation of a 27 year civil war. Your gift of $350 would give one child the opportunity to attend school, to receive a primary education.
