Ministry Description
Founded in November 1974, the Durham Rescue Mission is the oldest and largest shelter provider in Durham, North Carolina, offering a hand up - not a hand out to those in need. Our Vision is that together, we can strive for everyone in the Triangle to have a home both on earth and in heaven. Our Mission is that together, through the power of Jesus Christ, we will meet the needs of the whole person spiritual, educational, emotional, physical, vocational, and social so that those who are hurting may become fully functional members of society. The mission provides food, clothing, housing, job training, GED and computer classes, Biblical counseling, assistance to medical services including dental and vision, and a host of other services for men, women and children who are homeless or in need of assistance.

ServantMatch®
The Durham Rescue Mission is supported entirely by gifts from individuals, churches, businesses, civic groups, organizations, foundations, grants and bequests. Financial donations are used for the daily operating expenses of our Durham, NC homeless shelter, including utilities, food, clothing, vocational training, GED classes and Biblical counseling for hurting men, women and children.
