Revised I-9 Gets a New Effective Date

August 9, 2017

The revised Form I-9 will be mandatory for employers as of September 17, 2017.

The revision was made to reflect changes due to the International Entrepreneur Rule from the Department of Homeland Security, which had an effective date of July 17, 2017. This rule was made to increase and enhance entrepreneurship, innovation, and job creation in the United States.

Additionally, due to glitches on the Fall 2016 PDF Form I-9, employers who downloaded the form between November 14-17, 2016 should download an updated form.
