CLS Files Brief for Petitioner in the Supreme Court
Printer Friendly Printer Friendly

In a historic first for the Christian Legal Society, attorneys for the Center for Law & Religious Freedom filed the Brief for Petitioner in the U.S. Supreme Court in Christian Legal Society v. Martinez

The case arose when Hastings College of the Law, located in San Francisco, California, denied recognition to a CLS student chapter because CLS requires its officers and voting members to affirm the CLS Statement of Faith. CLS's Center for Law & Religious Freedom has represented the student chapter in its claim that Hastings violated its First Amendment rights of freedom of expressive association, freedom of speech, and free exercise of religion.
