How does ECFA handle a complaint against our ministry?
ECFA will investigate all allegations against an ECFA member as it intersects with any ECFA Standard of Responsible Stewardship. Certain allegations may warrant a special on-site visit from one of ECFA staff members.
-
Will you tell us who raised the complaint against our ministry?
Although ECFA encourages complainants to first address their concerns directly to the organization, ECFA will honor a complainant’s wish to remain anonymous. If an ECFA Standard is not directly related to their concern, ECFA will encourage mediation for the sake of the Body of Christ.

We just learned that our ministry is out of compliance on one of your Standards, what will happen now?
ECFA is committed to working with our members on a redemptive approach to full compliance with our Standards. Depending on the violation, your membership may be placed on probation, pending the resolution of the matter. Typically, the violation will require little more than a commitment to make the necessary changes to come back into compliance.

We are out of compliance and cannot resolve it. What will happen?
When a ministry is out of compliance and redemptive measures are not successful, ECFA will recommend that the ministry resign their membership. Alternatively, ECFA will terminate the membership and cite the particular Standard violation.
